TECHNOLOGICALLY TOUGHER - ENVIRONMENTALLY NICER!

Lib Tech is dedicated to board riding and hands on high tech board building. We have spent a lifetime of surfing, shaping and working with alternative, high performance, environmentally friendly materials and constructions. Traditional surfboard construction has always felt too fragile and the build process is toxic and unhealthy for the planet and craftspeople. We know there had to be a way...

Mike Olson and our experiMENTAL division applied our 35+ years of hands on board building experience to the task of building a better surfboard. In the process we completely rewrote the book on surfboard construction. Every component we use in our ecoIMPACTO surf construction is completely new to the surf industry. Our Thermo fusion process radically minimizes resin exposure and sanding while creating amazingly durable, environmentally friendly, high performance surf structures that will free your mind and lift your surfing to new heights.

  2. YES, IT WORKS AS A STEP UP!
    Quality
    100%
I've had too many Libs already, but was never gonna be satisfied without trying the RNF. However, I did it different from what most would recommend - I upsized from what I'd normally get (prob the 5'8") two sizes to the 6'0", to see how it would work as a step-up for the bigger volume Indian Ocean swells on a recent Indo trip. I was sure it would feel like a boat in regular waves here at home (NZ), but to my surprise, it wasn't bad at all; step on the tail and I could crank much tighter turns than I expected! Being oversized, it's no surprise the front end does feel a bit wide, flat, and chunky. But as I'd hoped, this comes in real handy when crawling into the bigger chunks of moving ocean. Stable, check. Early entry, check. Manoeverable, check. Durable for travel, duh. Applicable step up board? CHECK! Added bonus, when the waves were dribble, it does a good impersonation of a long board! Oh, for fins, I tried the Lib twin + trailer, nice. But I reckon it works even better as a quad. And finally, for anyone wondering how my PJHP performed (see my review on that board, written pre-indo trip)... yeah, nah... it was okay, but a little too wide in the tail for purpose in these types of waves.

  3. SICK
    Quality
    100%
This board is super fast and works in just about every wave and size you can think of. At home in 1 ft slop and 8 ft tubes. I don't ride anything else anymore. Its a good investment to get multiple fin sets just for this board. It loves a nice twin and handles super well as a thruster as well. As a quad it felt a little too grippy in smaller waves but is overall awesome.

  4. GREAT BOARD FOR HOME AND TRAVEL
    Quality
    100%
I weigh 195, and have surfed all types of boards for 25+ years. This one is very close to a one board quiver. I had the 5'10, but upsized to the 6'0 and I did not lose any wave catching ability or performance.
Just a bit more volume that did help in truly mushy ankle biters when I had no choice but to surf the one board I brought on the trip. I don't think going bigger makes it surf or paddle harder. I am a heavy footed surfer.
When I travel, I throw it and a daybag and don't worry about it. Not a ding or pressure dent yet. Amazing!
I tried all kinds of fins with it, But the FCS MR-tx fins are my favorite. The board does everything right.
It does not turn like my HP Perfect day board, but for 95% of the year, it is the best board in the quiver.

  5. MAGIC BOARD 5'8"!
    Quality
    100%
This is a magic board! It works amazing in anything from knee high flat junk to way overhead walls. Loves the open face. Fish influenced lines and flow and it carves thru waves like butter, but still lets you hit the lip with snap turns and release like a shortboard. Riding it as Twin fin + trailer or as Quad in really small waves. After surfing high performance boards for 30+ years it been hard to get me off of this little hybrid. I only swap to my HPSB is when its too slabby/late takeoffs/hollow/square.
If your having doubts about sizing - get the lowest volume you can - similar to HP boards. Don't oversize as it will just makes the board harder to handle and catch waves!

  6. YOU COULD POSSIBLY INVEST IN BITCOIN BUT PERSONALLY I WOULD RECOMMEND A ROUND NOSE REDUX
    Quality
    100%
Live in MA and surf from Maine to Jersey typically. Take a flight to PR Costa or Nica occasionally. My 5’10” rips everything n I mean everything from mush to 12’ top to bottom caverns. Having the fin options are key and Lost with the shape and Lib’s Technology

  7. NOT WHAT YOU EXPECT
    Quality
    100%
With over 30 years of surfing and waves from all over the world, my Lib tech board impressed me. I went into thinking I would get a little less responsive board in trade for durability. I was wrong. This board truly rides like a PU. It’s quick, paddles easily and it flows. Other epoxies or vacuumed boards I have ridden, you feel the need to push them up the face or down the line, these flow. You also don’t get that hollow chatter that you have with some epoxy boards. Thanks LT

  8. GREAT ALL-ROUNDER AND SUPER DURABLE
    Quality
    80%
This has become my go-to all-round everything board for where I live in the PNW. Easy to paddle, catch waves and turn. I mostly use the MR Twin plus trailer, and it loosens it up nicely, but sometimes switch to thruster set-up in bigger juicier waves. I've probably surfed over 80 sessions on it so far and it only has one minor pressure ding. Lib is not like epoxy at all but has some heft to it like a PU. Great to see the partnership with Lost and Lib.

  10. INCREDIBLE/INDESTRUCTBLE BOARD, WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND TO ANYONE
    Quality
    100%
I have this board in 5'8 and absolutely love it. It turns on a dime and paddles great for how compact it is. I've surfed this board in 2ft Florida waves to 8ft Jaco CR and it works great. Little scary in the bigger stuff but once you get settled its a very fun board. In terms of durability you cant beat it, I take this board everywhere and have not seen any dings cause by traveling even on international flights. One time my friend's dad accidently dropped a 16lb bowling ball on the deck from 4ft in the air and to my disbelief the board was fine. It had a small pressure dent not unlike what you see on the deck of a PU caused by your feet but that was it. the shape is incredible and its my favorite board but the best part is the construction. The peace if mind this board give is well worth the price.
